Goddess Lakshmi is one of the prime deities in Hinduism. She is highly revered in Hinduism as the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. People often pray to Her to bless them with riches and to keep their wealth safe.
About Lakshmi Puja
Lakshmi Pujan is one of the most auspicious festivals that falls on the third day of Diwali on the new moon day (Amavasya) in the month of Ashwin of the Krishna Paksha. As per legend, Maa Lakshmi, the goddess visits her worshippers on the eve of Lakshmi Puja and blesses them abundantly with happiness, peace, riches and harmonious married life. Before the festival of Lakshmi Pujan devotees clean their house and decorate it beautifully and prepare festive sweet and spicy delicacies.
On the eve of Lakshmi Puja, devotees keep the doors and windows of their house open to invite Goddess Lakshmi to their abode and to get blessed by Her. They light ghee or oil diyas outside the main door, on the window panes, hang a lantern and also draw rangoli at the main entrance of the door.
